Being in Morgantown and going to West Virginia University is an exciting experience. There is so much going on at all times that it’s possible for your time here to fly right past without a thought to you. You need to take advantage of your time here and spend it in the best way possible! So we’ve assembled a small Motown Bucket List to be completed before leaving Morgantown! Starting with the obvious: attend a WVU football game. WVU’s football team is a prestigious and incredibly successful team. But the most fun part of any WVU game isn’t the game itself, it’s the tailgating. Gates to the stadium usually open about an hour and a half before the game so there isn’t too much time to enjoy yourself before heading into the game to enjoy yourself some more! You’ll need your tents, tables and grills to cook up some delicious fuel for the game. Some popular tailgating pastimes include corn hole, loud music and wearing your home team colors loudly and proudly. Don’t miss out on the experience of a WVU football game. It’s obligatory for everyone in Morgantown, student or not. To see the football schedule for this year head here. Mario’s Fishbowl is the popular hangout for every over 21 student at WVU. You can’t leave without trying one of their beers served in a giant goblet aptly named the “Fishbowl” which come from the local Morgantown Glassworks. While you’re drinking from your fishbowl, you might as well have some delicious grub while you’re at it. Their sandwiches are amazing and there are so many to choose from. We recommend the nachos to go with your fishbowl: perfect combination! Mario’s Fishbowl is only a 3 minute drive away from Pierpont Place Apartments and a 10 minute walk if you’ve had a couple of fishbowls! Make sure you leave your mark on the wall at Mario’s too! Dorsey’s Knob is quite the spectacle. Sky Rock stands nearly 600 feet above the sweeping valleys and soaring pines. The 70 acre park is only a little outside of Morgantown but it feels a world away. If you’re feeling particularly brave, you can try your hand at scaling Sky Rock! If that poses too big of a challenge, you can join in on a fun disc golf game throughout the entire park. Dorsey’s Knob Park is located only 10 minutes away from Pierpont Place Apartments so the drive isn’t long but you might find yourself getting lost within the park! Morgantown is an exciting and bustling place. You can’t leave it without trying certain fun things exclusive only to Motown! Whether it’s exploring Dorsey’s Knob Park, drinking a fishbowl at Mario’s or attending a WVU football game, these things are the epitome of Morgantown! Don’t leave without trying them at least once!

Today is the first official day of fall! Even though the weather hasn’t been feeling particularly fall-like lately, it’s still nice to get in the mood for the season. During autumn, there are a few necessities that you simply must have in order to feel complete. In Morgantown, we have our own special list and we’re going to share it with you. You can’t make it through the fall and winter seasons without a toasty warm beverage to heat you up after a day spent outside. One of the best places in Motown to get that is at Tutto Gelato Cafe. While it might seem strange to get your coffee from a place that serves frozen treats, having coffee as dessert is actually a really popular practice in Italy (where they make the best coffee and gelato). Their delicious teas, lattes and espressos are the perfect fall beverage. They have everything from regular cafe lattes to mocha lattes to chai teas and some amazing hot chocolate for the non-coffee drinkers. (Try the Nutella hot chocolate!) So when the days start getting chillier, you know where to come to warm yourself up from the outside into your soul. Tutto Gelato Cafe is only a 3 minute drive from our home at Pierpont Place. Next on our list, this revolutionary bakery has been delivering scrumptious baked goods to college students late at night since 2003. Insomnia Cookies are perfect for the all night study sessions when you need a little boost. They offer delivery on many different kinds of delicious cookies, brownies and even ice creams. (Try the brownies on top of the ice cream) When you’re feeling really stressed out from school, why not get yourself a whole cookie cake delivered to your front door? Insomnia Cookies is every college-student-up-at-3 AM’s dream come true. What’s better than milk and cookies delivered right into your hands? We haven’t found anything yet. Insomnia Cookie is a quick 4 minute drive from Pierpont Place, not that you’ll need to drive there! The only thing better in cold weather than hot drinks and cookies delivered to your door is soup. Soup is fabulous for days when you’d rather just be in bed and it’s especially fabulous if you actually are in bed while eating it. One of the best places to get soup is at Panera Bread! Their daily rotation of soups will have you coming back the next day to try another one. Today’s menu has on it a baked potato soup, a creamy vegetarian tomato soup and a delicious all-natural turkey chili. While you’re there make sure you try the Pick-2 deal which gets you a soup and half of one of their amazing sandwiches. The local Panera is only a 2 minute drive away from Pierpont Place Apartments. Once the weather gets chillier, you’ll be needing some comfort and these are the best places to find it. Whether it’s coffee and tea, giant cookies or tasty soups, each of these restaurants has one of our favorite fall things. We know that once you try them, they’ll quickly become your favorite fall things too!
