Get out and explore

Summer doesn’t actually arrive until June 20th but that shouldn’t stop you from getting as much fresh air and spending as much time as possible outside. The weather has certainly turned around for us and we are NOT mad about it! In honor of Camping Month, head to the great outdoors this month for a mini getaway. Spend the weekend or maybe even the whole week. Escape for a while from the hectic rush of summer jobs and internships and worry about it all when you get back. Before you head out into the wilderness make sure to stop and pick up some camping gear. You can’t go running off into the woods unprepared. Stop by Pathfinder in Morgantown for all your outdoor essentials. Grab sleeping bags for you and your group and a tent. Or forget the tent if you’d rather sleep out under the stars at night. Grab some cooking gear like a Jetboil camp stove if you’re planning on cooking any fish you catch. No matter what you need for camping, Pathfinder will have it for you. Pathfinder is a short 5 minute drive away from Pierpont Place so you won’t have go far to find all your camping essentials. It won’t take a road trip to find the perfect place to camp out. Cooper’s Rock State Forest has plenty of ideal spots and views that will knock your socks off. If you haven’t been yet, consider this your sign to get your butt moving! Campgrounds at Cooper’s Rock are open from April 1st until October 31st so you have plenty of time to reserve yourself a plot and get out there. Hot showers and water is available to all those with reserved campsites and you can even get access to WiFi so you never have to be without your cell phone (unless you want to, of course). Try your hand at fishing in Cheat River but if you come up empty, head to Overlook Trading Post where they’re serving up sandwiches, hot dogs, and other tasty snacks to fill your belly. Grab something from the gift shop while you’re at it to prove you visited beautiful Cooper’s Rock. There are a slew of hiking and biking trails winding throughout the forest but make sure you’re properly equipped before striking out on the trails. Nothing would suck more than to have to walk your bike 6 miles back because you got a flat tire and had no way of fixing it. Celebrate Camping Month the right way at Cooper’s Rock Forest and we promise you won’t be disappointed. Have you been to Cooper’s Rock yet? Share your pictures of the views with us on Facebook and Twitter.
